TBR – 24 in 48 Readathon

I have decided to participate in my first ever readathon this weekend – the 24 in 48 readathon, in which participants attempt to read for 24 hours out of the total 48 hours in the weekend. You can enter yourself, or have a look at the information here: . I will be attending a birthday party this weekend, so I was reluctant to enter, in case I simply don’t have the time, but I think it is important to challenge ourselves from time to time, and I’m genuinely interested to see if I can complete the readathon. Here is my TBR pile for the weekend – I don’t expect to finish all of these, but I’d like to read a portion of each of them, and simply see how much I can read.

I am halfway through Beyond Good and Evil, and have begun to struggle with the desire to pick it up, as I have a multitude of issues with it. However, I would like to complete it in order to be able to present a more well rounded review at the end. I hope to potentially finish this if I read it in short spurts throughout the weekend.

I am also around two hundred pages of the way through The Eye of the World and am struggling slightly with that too. People have warned me that the first half of the book is extremely slow going though, so I would like to push forwards and see if I enjoy the rest as much as other people have. With my current feelings, I think I may be missing out on what has been described as one of the best fantasy series in existence, but we shall see once I’ve finished. I don’t expect to finish this one this weekend, but it would be nice to read a decent chunk of it.

Faces in the Water is yet another book I am halfway through, but this one I am enjoying a great deal, and am savouring. The language is beautiful, and I would love to finish this one this weekend in order to be able to recommend it wholeheartedly.

The final book on my readathon TBR is The Radium Girls as I have just finished my current non-fiction book (not including the Nietzsche), and I generally like to have one to read alongside the fiction books I’m currently reading. I bought this one in Waterstones with a gift card and would therefore like to read it sooner rather than later, so I can report back to the person who gifted it to me.

Despite being fairly busy this weekend, I’m confident I can get a sizable amount of reading done. Even if I don’t manage the full 24 hours, I will be pleased just to allow myself  time to read solidly without interruptions, as I often become distracted by other things. Feel free to link me to your TBRs or let me know what you think about mine. I hope everyone achieves the goals they’ve set themselves for this weekend, and above all, I wish you happy reading!
